There already is a small connection between Dr. Who and Star Trek.  In
"The horns of Nimon" (I believe), the Doctor is lamenting how people are
always "pointing stat guns, phasers, or blasters" at him.  The mention of
phasers is a deliberate in-joke (I think Douglas Adams was script editor
at the time).
