A quick question for those of you who haapen to watch Dr Who on you local PBS station: The PBS station in Chicago (through the 'estimable' Mr. Robinson) implies that the Dr Who contingent more than pays for the cost of the programme. (and, yes I plunk down my money every year) Why then is the Doctor relegated to bizarre viewing hours? In Chicago, the programme is on at 11:00 pm Sunday nights (and when the time change comes about in the cornfields of Indiana it means midnight viewing), and at no other time. They also had it on at 9:00 am Saturdays ( a while back), but took it off so they could play re-runs of amazingly old and bad movies. They also claim that they 'don't know when they will get the Colin Baker episodes'. Well, if they can't afford them because they are buying something else, I for one will be bloody unhappy. I am beginning to get the feeling that *some* of the PBS stations are taking our money and running with it. I especially feel this way when the announcer, after claiming what a fan he is of the Doctor, screws up on identifying the actors who have played the Doctor. Anyway, the question is: Is your PBS station giving you the same line? While they are telling you how much the Dr Who fans contribute to the station, thay are also telling you that they might not get the episodes you want to see? Laurie pucc-k:afo (p.s. Target books is now releasing Worzel Gummidge books to the U.S. And yes, they are strange.)
