Well, since no one's posted any trivia quizzes for some time (and Murphy's
Law predicts that three other people will post some just before I post this), I
thought I'd give it a go. So without further ado (and with Programme Guide in
hand), I now present the First Annual Doctor Who Trivia Challenge...
I have separated the questions into two categories, so that people who get
only the "canonical set" of episodes won't be at as great a disadvantage.
Where a question has two parts, the score is in two parts, separated by a
slash.
Part One: The 12th through 15th seasons (most everyone should have access to
these episodes) (50 points)
1. What was the only organic part of the Peking Homonculous, and by
what other name was it known? (10/5 points)
2. Why did the Doctor become a candidate for President of the Council
of Time Lords in "The Deadly Assassin"? (10 points)
3. What was the planet of origin of the Fendahl, and how did the
Time Lords deal with the creature? (7/8 points)
4. What two alien races attacked Gallifrey in "The Invasion of Time"?
(5/5 points)
Part Two: The 7th through 18th seasons (all of Pertwee and [Tom] Baker; not
including 12-15, of course) (50 points)
5. What was Callufrax, and what was its significance? (6/6 points)
6. Who was "the BOSS" and in which episode did he/she/it appear?
(6/6 points)
7. How could the Doctor have guaranteed victory for either the Daleks
or their enemy the Movellans in "Destiny of the Daleks"?
(12 points)
8. Why was Omega unable to leave his antimatter universe, and how did
the Doctor defeat him? (6/8 points)
Please mail me your answers, and I will post the solution along with the top
scores when the deluge of mail stops (:->), probably in a week or two. I'll
separate the scores into two lists, so if you only have access to seasons
12-15 (Tom Baker and {Sarah Jane & Leela}) let me know and I'll score you in
the appropriate list.
Also, as this is my first try at this, I welcome any comments you all have
to make. Were the questions too easy? Too hard? They all seem ridiculously
simple to me with the answers in front of me, so it's hard for me to tell.
Is my split scoring scheme necessary? I don't know how many net readers get
which episodes. Let me know when you send me your answers. TNX
