<> Went to a con in Philly over the weekend, and was lucky enough to get a chance to see Colin Baker in "The Twin Dilemma." The story itself is no great shakes (any "dilemma" in the usual sense of the word passed me by), but Colin Baker was terrific!! I believe this is the first CB serial, so the Doctor is bound to be a bit unstable, but even so you might find some of the story surprising or even a bit shocking. The main difficulty with the new Doctor appears to be that he really has a stage presence ( I don't know too much about his background, but it wouldn't surprise me a bit to find that he has done some Shakespearian style work on the stage. All well and good, but you need strong supporting parts and actors/actresses to fill them, otherwise the main character takes over completely. However, it was only one episode, and I don't think that it forms any basis for drawing any carved-in-stone conclusions. Overall, the plot was weak, I felt, but Colin Baker more than saved the day. Good style! See this one if you can! There is going to be another convention (comics,SF, Trek, and the Doctor) in Philly in early November, and another one over Thanksgiving weekend in New York at the Omni Park Central Hotel (it's around 56th and 7th in Manhattan) BTW, did anyone else know that Tom Baker and Lalla Ward were spokespeople for PR1ME Computer in Australia? Probably why the TARDIS never worked properly-- my single experience with PR1MEs as an undergrad was, shall we say, unforgettable.
