#R:sjuvax:-46200:uicsl:11000004:000:983 uicsl!gmk Sep 6 19:51:00 1984 The Master did not really regenerate a 13th time. In "The Keeper of Traken" the Master tricks his way into getting access to the Source (a great power generator that maintains peace and harmony on Traken when occupied by an appropriate Keeper). He plans to supplement his own powers in the last days of his 12th regeneration with those of the Source to take over the Doctor's body and extend his life. Of course, he is foiled in this attempt, and he settles for the next-best body around: that of Councillor Tremas, who is Nyssa's father. He also uses his powers to trim about 30 years off of Tremas' rather elderly body (and about 80% off his beard). In the next story, "Logopolis", Nyssa follows the doctor to Logopolis to get his help in locating her missing father. This story also features a confrontation between the Master and the Doctor and ends with the Doctor's regeneration. Nyssa stays with the Doctor after his regeneration. Many months ago, a posting about the Doctor's companions' changing quoted the actress who played Nyssa as saying something like "at the rate I was losing clothes, it was good that I left when I did!". I have just seen the last Baker and the first Davison episodes, which have Nyssa in them, and so far she has gone from a sort of formal Traken dress to wearing the top of that dress with some sort of long pants. Could someone post what costume changes Nyssa goes through in her sojurn as a companion, in general terms? Thanks! Will Martin

Re: Nyssa's dress I'll take a stab at this, Nyssa being my favorite companion (with the possible exception of Sara Jane who I have not seen but a time or two). Yes, she losses the formal dress and adopts the matching slacks to her top (I called them velvet jeans). I believe it was in her last season (Davison's second season) in "The Arc of Infinity" when she changed. They didn't make a big deal of it, she just no longer wore the maroon Traken outfit from "Time-Flight" when the next season began. It was a denim skirt and jacket with a yellow or cream blouse underneath. I've forgotten when she losses her jacket, but in "Terminus" when she becomes ill, she discards her skirt, I think she had a fever and she said she was hot..... (I'm not going to say it). Then she just had what I assume are undergarments, a slip or negligee looking article. Maybe that's what the blouse was underneath the jacket. I was really hoping she'd stay another story or two (or three or four...). -King ARPA:ables@ut-ngp UUCP:{ctvax,ihnp4,kpno,seismo}!ut-sally!ut-ngp!ables

Teegan also changes clothes for her last few episodes. In "Resurrection of the Daleks" (her last episode) she is not wearing the grey uniform that she wore in the previous season. Instead, she is wearing a brightly colored blouse and a tight leather skirt. Much nicer. I was sorry to see her go. I don't really care for Teegan, but I'd rather have her stay than Turlough. -- Barry Margolin ARPA: barmar@MIT-Multics UUCP: ..!genrad!mit-eddie!barmar
