[We're just in time, Jo, look -- Worzel's on!]
I was just looking through the lastest issues of the Doctor Who magazine
(issues 94 and 95), and here's what they have to say about the upcoming
season.
*** SPOILER WARNING! SPOILER WARNING! ***
Certain surprises appear here concerning the 22nd season. Readers who
do not wish to know too much about the new programs should "q" at the
next more.
(I had a feeling you were going to do that.)
The episodes will be 50 minutes apiece (the equivalent of two 25-minute
shows, which is how they used to be), and will be shown once a week.
The day of the week that they will be shown is not yet established.
(Does anyone know if BBC1 transmits via satellite? Maybe someone who has
a dish (satellite receiver, not "dish of the day" dish :-) ) can watch
them as they are being shown in the British Isles.)
Story 1) Attack of the Cybermen (production code 6T, 2 episodes)
written by Paula Moore
directed by Matthew Robinson (Resurrection of the Daleks)
guests: Maurice Colbourne, Brian Glover, Faith Brown, Sarah
Green, Sarah Berger, Michael Kilgariff, David Banks,
and Terry Molloy.
The Doctor and Peri land on Telos, where the Cybermen have
been hibernating -- until now.
Story 2) Vengeance on Varos (production code 6U, 2 episodes)
written by Philip Martin
directed by Ron Jones
guests: Martin Jarvis, Stephen Yardley, Shiela Reid, Jason
Connery, Nabil Shaban, Nicholas Chagrin, Geraldine
Alexander, and Forbes Collins.
Varos -- a world where "civilization is a nightmare of
organized cruelty, institutional violence, and callous
bureaucracy supported by mistrust, corruption and malice..."
Story 3) The Mark of the Rani (production code 6W, 2 episodes)
written by Pip and Jane Baker
directed by Sarah Hellings
guests: ANTHONY AINLEY as THE MASTER, and Kate O'Hara as
the Rani.
Story 4) The Two Doctors (production code 6V, 3 episodes)
written by Robert Holmes
directed by Peter Moffatt
guests: Patrick Troughton, Fraser Hines, Jacqueline Pierce,
Laurence Payne, John Stratton, and John Saxon (the
magazine says "James Saxon", but I remember John from
The $6 Million Man).
Filmed in Spain, this story also features the return of
the SONTARANS.
Story 5) Timelash
written by Glen McCoy
directed by Pennant Roberts
Story 6) (no title yet)
directed by Graeme Harper (The Caves of Androzani)
At this time, work should have started on "Mark of the Rani"; the other
three stories are complete. I don't have any plot summaries for the last
four stories yet. If anyone finds out any more information, post it.
