[net.tv.drwho] Hartnell quote

nyssa@terminus.UUCP (Nyssa of Traken) (01/15/85)

In Episode 6 of The Dalek Invasion of Earth, the Doctor said about Susan's
departure with a freedom fighter, "One day I shall come back, yes one day I
shall come back, but until then there must be no regrets, no tears, just go
forward in your beliefs and I shall go forward with mine."

Susan's departure from the TARDIS in that story was a difficult one, she
loved the freedom fighter (His name has slipped my memory), but felt that
she had to take care of her grandfather. The Doctor used the excuse of going
into the TARDIS to repair a shoe, then, after some thought, closed and locked
the doors. The closing scene was Susan's TARDIS key, which she had dropped.

This was the first departure of a companion in the show's history.

The scene sounds very touching. I really wish I had seen
some of the hartnell episodes. Are they playing anywhere?

Apparently, Lionheart will shortly have access to many of the Hartnell &
Troughton stories that remain, and will hopefully release them to their
subscribers shortly.
