["Doctor!" "You were expecting someone else?"] > Any discussion of this should be in net.tv or net.sf-lovers, not here, since > it has absolutely nothing in common with Doctor Who (except having been filmed > on the same large island) Nothing in common except that the current Doctor is doctor NUMBER SIX. :-) I haven't objected to seeing postings concerning "The Prisoner" on this newsgroup. At least a few of us out there watch something other than the Doctor. One of my friends first introduced me to the show, and I've read about it in Fantasy Empire -- a magazine devoted to British SF television. Will there be enough traffic to justify the creation of net.tv.prisoner? (Come now, let's not have subgroups for every television program that's ever been on.) net.tv.bbc is okay, but still a bit too limited. (It would exclude shows produced by ITV, Thames, and other independent companies. This means that discussions about The Muppet Show, Benny Hill, and Worzel Gummidge wouldn't be discussed on net.tv.bbc!) How about net.tv.british so we can discuss all these shows? Or how about net.tv.nonus so we can discuss other countries' TV programs -- such as those that come from Canada and Japan? (leaving net.tv for American prime time -- yuck!) As for A. G. Persus' creation of net.tv.bbc: it might have had the same fate as net.music.gs -- rmgroup'ed by Gene Spafford. He is one of the few that has the power to officially create newsgroups. All this crap about newsgroups can be skipped if we were running a keyword- based news system. (Right, Brad?) net.sf-lovers has gotten too big for me to keep up on it, and I recently unsubscribed to net.tv because all it had on there were the shows I don't watch. I hope the purists don't get restless if/when we start discussing "Blake's 7" here. (At least it has connections with Doctor Who, as "Hitchhikers' Guide ..." did!) -- "Is there liver in reality?" I'd recommend both, British TV has enough interest to support its own group, but I have yet to see a posting on Canadian/other foreign TV. >I hope the purists don't get restless if/when we start discussing "Blake's >7" here.
