Perhaps I missed it, but at the end of the first Peter Davison season he picked up a creature called Chameleon (away from the Master). The second season is now being shown here, but no Chameleon. What happened? Bob Ankeney tektronix!reed!omsi

Just wait and see: (I'll tell you, but I'll put it on the next page so that it doesn't spoil it for you: stop now if you don't want to know) You see Kamelion once again in Planet of Fire, the second-to-last Davison story: At the beginning of the story, you hear an electronic whail, and see him in agony in the TARDIS (in the room next to the Console room). Later, you see that the Master, in trying to build an even more deadly Tissue-Compression Eliminator, has accidentally used it on himself and has gone to Sarn, the "Planet of Fire," to be "decompressed" by the restorative blue flames. Meanwhile, he gets control of Kamelion again, and tries to use him to start the flames in the inside of the mountain. Fortunately, the Doctor comes at just the right time, and partially frees Kamelion from the Master's control, but Kamelion doesn't trust himself and tells the Doctor to destroy him, which the Doctor does. Also, in Caves of Androzani, when Peter Davison is regenerating into Colin Baker, the Doctor sees images of all his companions, of which Kamelion is one, telling him not to die. Kamelion, as he is called, reappears in "Planet of Fire." In the book, we are told that the Doctor dislikes the "Tinpot Jeeves" so much that he gives him a room and leaves him there. He was supposed to be written into a scene of "The Awakening," but was left out because of time.

Don't give up on Chameleon, as he reappears (very surprisingly) in the third (last) season of Peter Davison, so stay tuned... -- Stuart Freedman decvax!cwruecmp!ncoast!stuart Case Western Reserve University or ccc%Case.CSNET@CSNet-Relay.ARPA
