In January, I posted the following to net.tv.drwho:

> While reading the novelization of Frontios over lunch today I came

> 'Kernighan . . . Ritchie . . . See nobody passes through here,'

I have since been reading "Doctor Who: A Celebration" and found out
this about Christopher Bidmead, the author of "Logopolis", "Castrovalva"
and "Frontios":
"When not writing or script-editing for Doctor Who, Christopher H. Bidmead's
other literary endeavours are towards those scientific and technical journals
which deal in the main with computers."

So that finally explains why he named his guards Kernighan and Ritchie.
