I believe that the incident at the 20th Anniversary Con was the first in a
long line of practical jokes and mutual insults between Pat and Jon at
various conventions. The 1984 Summer Special has an article on that con-
vention (which says that Peter Davison "narrowly escaped getting soaked", who
knows who's correct?), and shows a picture of the two of them in costume,
struggling to get out of the door of a mock TARDIS before the other one!
All this, of course, began with The Three Doctors and, later, The Five
Doctors. It has become a sort of tradition, it seems, that when they both
are at conventions something is going to happen...

The 20th Anniversary Convention was only the second that Pat and Jon had attended (the third Pat attended ever). The feud originated in The Three Doctors, I am sure they are great friends in real life.
