[net.tv.drwho] Planet of the Daleks

KTEH showed this serial over the past week. Unfortunately, they
only broadcast five of the six parts. My question is: which part
is "known" to be missing? I was under the impression that part 3
(which was broadcast in B&W) was the "missing" part in Lionheart
movies of PotD and that all six episodes of PotD were available.
Alas, we only saw parts 1-5, missing the conclusion.

Am I confused, or did someone at Lionheart/KTEH foul this up?

I guess everyone hasn't read my previous posting about 'Planet Of
The Daleks' and 'Invasion Of The Dinosaurs', so I will repeat it again,
for all of the new readers of this news group.

Yes, all 6 parts of both of the mentioned stories do exist. There are
two types of distribution done by Lionheart, movie and episode form.
Herein is where the problem lies. Lionheart received from the BBC the
tapes that were to be used for distribution. The movie forms were
edited without the B&W episodes, as it was figured that stations would
not want to air stories that had a B&W piece stuck in it. Apparently,
according to Lionheart, that is true. So, those episodes were left out.

Now comes the part that doesn't make any sense. The episode form of
PotD is missing part six. Lionheart had no explanation why the BBC
did not send that over, as they had it for the movie form. I haven't
gotten word back from my source, but it is my understanding that the
episode form of IotD is complete. But, the movie form is missing part
one, as it is only available in B&W.

I am in the process of editing (using 3/4" equipment), when I get the
two tapes that I need, complete movie forms of both of these stories.
I will make these available to anyone who wants them. Lionheart will
not, and have told me so, re-edited the tapes themselves. They will
only distribute what the BBC sends them. They also don't want the
problem of shipping two different edits of the movie form.

This is all very sad indeed. The only way we are going to get re-edited
copies to our TV stations is to write the BBC and have them send new
copies to Lionheart.

I hope that this clears up some of the problems.
