My apologies if this got through twice; news belched just after my first posting so I canceled it and tried again. Believe it or not, just in these last few hours the guide has been updated again! Thanks to the latest _Official Doctor Who Magazine_ I have more on Colin Baker's first episodes. I'm thinking of doing a wider (132 column) version of this list, which would probably include info such as Director, Archive (which episodes are missing), and a more extensive notes section. Mind you, I'm not promising this in the near future, first I have to find a 132 column terminal. As it says in the introduction, please send any corrections or additions you may have; I'll repost to the net whenever enough has been changed/added. So with no further ado, here it is! Human: Jamie Green @ Gordon's Account UUCP: {ihnp4,decvax,tektronix}!uw-beaver!uw-june!gordon ARPA: gordon@uw-june DOCTOR WHO STORY GUIDE This guide contains information in the following form: Story Production Code (SPC): Each story had a unique code associated with it that was used for filing purposes. Title: Stories `A' through `Z' had individual titles for each episode, but in the interest of organization and for saving space, only the collective title is given. After each title, the number of episodes is given in parentheses, and if a Target Books novelisation exists, that fact is noted by the pres- ence of an asterisk or a caret if the book's title is radically different from that of the episode. Writer: This column lists the author(s) of each episode. Notes: This column records any changes in the Doctor's companions, and mentions any other interesting information. In addition, the season headings show the beginning and ending dates of the original broadcast of the season, and the Producer(s) and Script Editor(s) for that season. Note on sources: This is primarily a modification on the earlier episode guide posted to the net several months ago, reformatted with much information added and some mistakes corrected. I checked all of the information with _The Doctor Who Programme Guide_ (all info through 18th season); _The Official Doctor Who Magazine_ July 1984 (Davison episodes) and August 1984 (Colin Baker episodes); _The Doctor Who Summer Special 1984_ (novelisations); and _Doctor Who: A Celebration_ (backup). Wherever contradictory information occurred, I used the "majority rules" method. There are several omissions, especially for the later seasons as information was sparse. Please send me any corrections or additions you may have, especially info on the latest seasons. [Eat Me, you bugger you!!!!] A while ago, a netter posted the following story guide. Unfortunately, being new to the net, I didn't save the person's name or system address. Since I can't send him the updates, I'll repost the guide, with corrections. The corrections are minor. But I modified the output so that it will fit real nice on a printer, using 66 lines/page. He also listed a couple of episodes as being in the BBC archives. But according to his same references and later issues of Doctor Who Monthly, they shouldn't have been on the list. Who knows, maybe I can't read correctly. In the near future I will be distributing my own program guide that lists the stories and individual episode names. Also listed are the BBC air dates of the stories, as well as the total length of the story, in movie form. I have posted it in the past, but with the release of Colin Baker stories and some Hartnell/Troughton stories, I need to update the times. Be sure to remove the .signature from the bottom. Postnews doesn't give me the option, like rn does, for not including it. ************** cut here **************** DOCTOR WHO STORY GUIDE Version 10/24/85 wide This guide contains information in the following form: Story Production Code (SPC): Each story had a unique code associated with it that was used for filing purposes. Title: Stories `A' through `Z' had individual titles for each episode, but in the interest of organization and for saving space, only the collective title is given. After each title, the number of episodes is given in parentheses, and if a Target Books novelisation exists, that fact is noted by the presence of an asterisk, or a caret if the book's title is radically different from that of the episode. (The book's title is given in the notes section.) Writer: This column lists the author(s) of each episode. Director: This column lists the director(s) of each episode. Archives: Through the 11th season, this lists all episodes that are held by the B.B.C. archives, in black & white and colour. The symbol "a-<n>" means that all episodes except those listed exist in the B.B.C. archives. Notes: This column records any changes in the Doctor's companions, and mentions any other interesting information. In addition, the season headings show the beginning and ending dates of the original broadcast of the season, and the Producer(s) and Script Editor(s) for that season. Note on sources: This used to be primarily a modification on the earlier episode guide posted to the net oh so long ago, but I've changed it so radically since then that I may as well have left out this sentence. We've only been chatting on and off for some time now (what a coincidence, eh? :-) ). > Since I > can't send him the updates, I'll repost the guide, with corrections. The > corrections are minor. You have an older version of my guide, which, as I promised, I have been continuing to maintain both the narrow and wide versions of the guide. The archive errors you noted (good eye!) I have since repaired. The reason for the error was that I used a couple of less-accurate sources to update the list. I have also fixed up the formatting (it looks really spiffy now -- all right-justified) and added novelization info as new books are announced. I was considering posting them again, as it's been awhile (they're big, so I don't like to post them *too* often...), but Mike beat me to it. Warning: much of the data in the version Mike posted is out of date - especially the novelization info. As I mentioned before, I've fixed up the formatting some, and fixed the centering of the season headers - on the old version, they tended to wander. One thing I didn't do is his modification of putting the header at the top of every page. I didn't do this because some people print it in different ways - some leave it as a long continuous strip, I print the wide version on a laser printer in landscape mode. I'll post the newest version soon, but I'll leave it up to all of you: do you or don't you want the header on every page? Please reply by mail, or discuss it on the net. Whatever you decide will be the official format for the guide. Since I couldn't find who it was from and my brain didn't find any info either, I couldn't pin it to you. BTW, I still have you on my list of things to get done and back to you. That I haven't forgotten. -- Mr. Video {seismo!uwvax!|!decvax|!ihnp4}!nicmad!brown
