*** REPLACE THIS LINE WITH YOUR MESSAGE *** *** BETTER YET, REVERSE THE POLARITY OF THE NEUTRON FLOW *** I was recently reviewing several of the articles that have come over the network that are concerned with the knitting procedure for an official Doctor Who scarf. There is great detail about how long the scarf should be and the order of colors. One other detail is the width of the scarf. For the multi-colored scarf it is 60 stitches. But someone named Futrelle commented that his/hers was 40 stitches wide making the scarf almost a foot wide. On the other hand, I am in the process of knitting a scarf and 60 stiches makes the scarf a foot wide. This might all sound like trivial quibbling, but the other night (while reviewing a tape of the good Doctor) I paused and estimated that the true width of the multi-colored scarf was (approx.) no more than one Tom-Baker-hand-length which (according to my hand which is about 7.5 x 4 inches) sets the official width of the multi- colored scarf at 8 to 9 inches. Since I am thinking of knitting another scarf for a friend (and realizing how terribly tedious knitting can be) it would be wonderful if I only had to knit a 9 inch wide scarf as opposed to a 12 inch wide scarf. Could someone confirm or deny my scarf width estimate? What is the official width (IN INCHES) of the scarf? Respond to me via computer-mail, if possible, and I will summarize all responses I get to net.tv.drwho.
