The current discussion seems to be revolving around Tangerine Dream, Michael Oldfield and J.M. Jarre. While I enjoy their music I was wondering if anybody has any opinions on other electronic musicians or groups? I am specifically thinking about Synergy (ie. Larry Fast), Kraftwerk and Tomita. Some other names in electronic music if you want to go
beyond pop are Morton Subotnick, Charles Babbitt, Laurie Spiegel,
Donald Erb, Charles Wuorinen....the Nonesuch label has a
good selection of 'old' (i.e. pre-digital) classics.

A few others you might want to add to your list:
John Serrie, who does the music for a lot of planetariums across the
country; Kevin Braheny, a newcomer, who just released his first album
on the "Hearts of Space" record label; Robert Margolef (sp) and Malcolm
Cecil (sp) who put out Tonto's Expanding Head Band in 1975.
What also might be of interest to electronic music buffs is the radio
program "Music From the Hearts of Space", which is broadcast across the
country on National Public Radio (at different times, depending on where
you are located.) Here in the NJ-NY area, it's WNYC-FM 94, at midnight
both Friday and Saturday.
