I just talked to a friend of mine who has a friend who got a letter from a friend in England who said that it's official: Nicola Bryant (Peri) is leaving the series. I believe that the new companion was also named, but I don't remember (I certainly didn't recognize the name; I think the person's first name was Connie, but who knows?). Could someone who is in-touch post the 'real scoop' and illuminate us all? Thanks. Well, if that decision is true, I'm definitely not unhappy. However, how will they do the transition to the new companion? (The way they did Romana's regeneration was rather nice, but what could be done here, short of a complete jump in continuity.) . ------- |-----| A. G. The new companion will be played by Bonnie Langford; she has little acting experience, but she is well-known as a singer and dancer. According to DWFCA, British fans are not too happy with this change-- they accuse JN-T of selecting someone he could take to U.S. cons and put in the cabarets. No details yet on the new companion's character, but I'm sure we'll hear more. Mark Modig ihnp4!sfmag!mom

Nicola Bryant is being replaced by Miss Bonnie Langford. Bonnie was in the original version of Cats in London, and has appeared on Broadway. I have a friend in London (who knows Bonie) who is working on a complete set of her credentials, this shall appear in the next issue of "A Mouth on Legs", the official newsletter of The Jersey Jagaroth. -- James C.
