This has probably been asked many times in net.lang.f77, if so please accept my apologies. My new employers are attempting to move their operations from VMS to UNIX. The problem is that they have a heavy investment in Fortran, and f77 is just not up to par, even with the numerous bug fixes we have installed. What we need is a better compiler, one which accepts all of the Fortran 77 standard and perhaps some reasonable DEC-compatable extensions. Undoubtably I am not the first to undertake this quest, hence I would welcome pointers from more experienced fortran adventurers. The only reference to a non-Berkeley f77 I have seen in what we have of net.lang.f77 is a mention of a Utah version. Could some kind soul enlighten me about this please?
