Has anyone experience with the Toolpack/1 release from NAG? Toolpack is a suite of Fortran software tools. They provide (reading from the brochure) tools to assist the production, testing, maintenance and transportation of medium-sized math software projects written in standard FORTRAN 77. Toolpack/1 is the first release of this package from NAG, Numerical Algorithms Group, 1101 31st St., Suite 100, Downers Grove, Ill 60515-1263. I would like to hear about it from anyone who has seen/used it. Also, does anyone know if it is available on an Apollo workstation? -- [rchrd] = Richard Friedman Pacific-Sierra Research, 2855 Telegraph #415 Berkeley, CA 94705 (415) 540 5216 UUCP: {dual, hplabs, ptsfa, apple}!well!rchrd

We've acted as a test site for Toolpack/1 for the last 18 months - theres a lot of very useful Fortran 77 tools available in the suite ( it's worth the 90 pounds distribution fee for the pretty printer!) There is a specially tailored C interface library which gives a very respectable performance under Unix. I've had all the tools except newton and istci running on our 11/780&11/750 under 4.2bsd. Toolpack has been implemented on an Apollo workstation, in fact the majority of the development work takes place on this machine. For more details contact Bob Iles, NAG Central Office, Mayfield House, 256 Banbury Road, Oxford, U.K. ( nag@ucl-cs.ARPA will also reach him sometimes) If any one wants any more details of the Tools available or mounting it under Unix - feel free to mail me.
