[net.sport.hoops] IU-Purdue

tischler@ihuxv.UUCP (01/19/84)

Darth Wombat & Co. (i.e., the Purdue Boilermakers) are going to get
their asses whipped by Indiana in W. Lafayette.

				Go IU,
				Puck Furdue,

					Mark

P.S. Have to admit, Purdue is a good team.

Well, tischler@ihuxv, I hope you got to see your precious Bobby
Knight on his Sunday coach's show; it was just great watching him lose
his temper and stalk off his own program. What a loser!

I've also been informed that Ol' Bobby has an arrest warrant
pending on him in Puerto Rico, stemming from his assault (note: not
"alleged assault" -- he was convincted in absentia) on a police officer
there during the pan-american games...

And you lost your football coach too, I see...well, someday that
little junior college in Bloomington will be a real university; but incidents
like this sure don't help. Right now, the only team that could provoke me
into pulling for IU is Notre Scum, whose students, faculty, and staff should
be exhiled to McMurdo Sound.

Can anyone tell me where Purdue is, who the basketball
coach for Purdue is, how many international-level all-star
teams the coach has been elected to lead, and how many
times this coach or Purdue has won the NCAA Championship?

	1. What, didn't they teach geography at IU? West Lafayette, Indiana
	2. Gene Keady
	3. I have no idea.
	4. Don't believe Keady has won the NCAA; Purdue collected a few
titles in its time; and most recently was #2 in the NIT in 1982.
Incidentally, Purdue was the only team ever to finish in the final
four of one of the tournaments (NCAA/NIT) fours years in a row.

Now it's my turn for the questions:

Why did Bobby Knight tell IU fans not to come to the games this week?
What IU basketball coach is known nationally for his temper tantrums?

So much for sarcasm. And I never said I attended IU.

So you don't care for Bobby Knight and IU and I don't
care for people who cut them down (I have nothing
against Purdue. My Grandmothers and 3 sets of aunts,
uncles, and cousins live in West Lafayette and
Williamsport). I think both teams are pretty boring.
I would much rather watch Louisville, Kentucky,
Houston, and North Carolina.

As for Knight telling the fans to stay home, he is
obviously upset, as I am, with the team's performance.

And when did Woody Hayes ever coach basketball for IU?

Give me a break, Wombat. Four final-four finishes in a row! What
you failed to mention was that 3 of those were in the NIT. If you will
recall, during that same 4-year period, Indiana WON the NIT AND the NCAA
championships. And during a 6-year period (1976-1981), Indiana won the NIT
once and the NCAA TWICE. Chew on that for a while.

Trivia: Pudoo has black as one of its colors, IU has white (technically cream).
Good guys wear white, bad guys wear black.

					PU, I smell a Boilermaker.
