[net.sport.hoops] NBA All-Star game

Anyone see the NBA All-Star Game? My wife and I watched it. We thought
it was quite entertaining. Isiah Thomas came close during the first
half for being dog of the game rather than MVP (missed several shots
and didn't pass off much). Dr. J was great as usual, and so was Magic.

Maybe we'll get tickets to the game when it's in Indianapolis next year!

P.S. Did you see Mark Aguire didn't do too much, particularly when his
fancy dunk from DePaul days flopped?

The all-star game (like most all-star games) was not played as a
real basketball game. I understand that there is really nothing on
the line but I can't see why the game has to be ten times less
competitive than pickup games at local playgrounds.

It seemed that the East was constantly setting up Dr. J for spectacular
1 on 1 moves to the hoop. Perhaps that is the purpose of the contest.
If so, I wish it were advertised as the "All Hot Dog Game".

GO CELTICS!!!

I agree that the game is not played as a real basketball
game, but I would rather watch an NBA All-Star game any time over
a regular season NBA game. Reason: Let's face it, you can throw
away the first 3 quarters of any pro game. The 4th quarter is the only
excitement that the game brings. In a regular season game maybe,
I say maybe, you'll see 5 spectacular plays in the first three
quarters (e.g. slam drunk, twisting lay-up). To me, this is
just wasting my time. I'd rather tune in on the end of the game.
Now, even though the All-Star game is like a pick up game, at
least the fans can see many more spectacular shots then they
would in regular season game. I'll watch the first 3 Q's of a
All-Star Game, but I won't watch the first three quarters of
a regular season game (unless I use it as a night light). That's
my own stinking opinion.
