[net.sport.hoops] Illinois, Purdue, Northwestern and a word on North Carolina

pector@ihuxw.UUCP (Scott W. Pector) (02/02/84)

Well, Northwestern didn't upset Purdue, but they played well the first
39 minutes. I'm hoping they will do well in W. Lafayette. However,
their SAT scores are better than Purdue's. Nyeaahh-Nyeaahhh!!

As far as the whole Big 10 is concerned, it looks like both Purdue and
Illinois are going to be on top of heap for a while. No matter. We
all know how the Fighting Illini (otherwise known as the Cheating Illini)
every other year get put on NCAA probation in basketball. (Cheating in
football, however, is something new for Illinois.) So, even if they
win the Big 10, it will be taken away next year by the NCAA. Why, 3
or 4 years ago, one of their star players had gotten a 6 on his ACT
total score. Oh, NU's ACT scores are higher than Illinois's, too.

As far as Purdue goes, I bet they recruit illegally, too. They had
problems with some freshman last year who they gave a car. I think
the guy was a running back. I guess to stay on top, you have to cheat
cheat or stink of it like ILL and PU. Northwestern does not cheat.
(Big 10 fans can say whatever they like about other Big 10 teams. It's
known as freedom of expression.)

Northwestern does not get put on probation. Northwestern does not
win Big 10 championships or get into NCAA Playoffs. I wonder if there
is a connection?

I did say that I would have a word about North Carolina. Here it is:

			BLECH!!!

Condolences to Darth Wombat. PU's win over NU should make him feel
better, though.

			Hail to Purple,
			Hail to White,
			Hail to thee,
			Northwestern.

Scott Pector claims that "cheating in football is something new for Illinois."

You have a short memory, Scott. Ever hear of a "slush fund?"

Dave,

My apologies. You are right about the Illini. They were as experienced
as the GOP was in the 70s.
