[net.sport.hoops] How is the Olympic Basketball Coach Chosen?

I was asked why Bobby Knight is coaching the Olympic basketball team
this year and I am not sure.  I guess I thought that the coach of
the team which wins the NCAA tournament in Olympic year X, coaches
the Olympic team in Olympic year X + 4.  Is this right?

Although I think Bobby Knight is one of the 5 best basketball coaches
in college basketball!!

I don't know how the coach is chosen, probably by some committee.
You don't have to win the NCAA tourney to be get it;  Dean Smith was the
'72(?) Olympic coach but didn't win the NCAA till '82.
