I agree, the Lakers are playing great ball, as they have since the All-Star break. However, the Celtics are playing very well, too, and it should be a helluva series (I'll be there!). I wouldn't put too much into the difference in the playoff records thus far. I think the Bullets are much tougher opponents than the Kings, and the Knicks somewhat tougher than the Mavs. The Knicks won three close games in NY, and they deserved to win; the Celts never had a bad game. The Mavs almost won the fourth game against LA, which would have made the series 2-2, and that would have made LA go back to Dallas. That's not to take anything away from the Lakers. They are the hottest team. I am looking forward to the series. Not to ignore the Bucks. Boston won the first game tonight, 119-96, in a boring blowout at the Garden. Boston came out flat, as I expected they might after the NY series, but the Bucks looked very bad. They had a horrible shooting game. Neither team had a big run the entire game; the Celtic lead just kept gradually growing from 9 after 1 quarter to 23 at the end. The Bucks are better than this. We'll see what happens Thursday. -- --Bruce Nemnich, Thinking Machines Corporation, Waltham, MA
