[net.sport.hoops] NBA Playoffs -- Celtics 3, Bucks 0

I agree. The end of game three against the Knicks was painful to watch
(as a Celtic fan). For those of you who didn't hear about it, the
Celtics were trying to come-from-behind in the 4th, and when they got
close, they missed 9 of 10 (!!) freethrows in the final minutes. Bird
(who lead the league in FT%) and Dennis Johnson (in the top 10) both
went 0-for-2. They lost by a small margin. Sigh.

Perhaps I shouldn't have said the Knicks "deserved to win" three games.
They did play very well (in NY) in that they played the Celtics even and
won three tight games. Were it not for the above incident, they
probably wouldn't have had the chance to. But that's history.

The Celts are now up 3-0 on the Bucks. Though the Bucks lead by 15
after making the first hoop of the 3rd quarter yesterday, the Celtics
came back to win 109-100. The climax of the comeback happened with the
Bucks leading 87-82, when Bird scored 5 points on one possesion (!) to
tie it. Larry hit two technical FTs for Buck zones (yes, two calls
seconds apart), and got a three-point play when he was fouled while
scoring on a drive into the lane.

The Lakers went 3-1 on the Suns today.

It is so hard to predict the outcome of a series like LA-Boston. Both
teams are so good, it depends so much on momentum, who's in a grove,
etc. It looks as if both teams will come in strong. Gee. The Lakers
are the only team which can outrun the Celtics, but the Celts depend
less on the running game. The Celts should have a rebounding edge. Both
teams are very deep. Boston probably has the defensive advantage, LA
the offensive.

In any case, it should be fun. Both teams are peaking at the right
time. Ah well, what the hell. Celtics in 7.
