In response to a request from Dartmouth, here is a quick assesment of
UCLA's lineup.

Center: Brad Wright	6'10	senior
Forward:	Gary Maloncon	6'7	senior
Forward:	Reggie Miller	6'6	sophomore
Guard: Dave Immel	6'5	sophomore
Guard: Nigel Miguel	6'5	senior

Sophormores Montel Hatcher or Corey Gaines could easily take away either
starting guard position and figure to get a lot of time. Freshman Craig
Jackson (6'8) will probably be the first forward off the bench.

The prevailing opinion seems to be that this is the least talented UCLA
team in a long time. However, if it plays up to its ability (which UCLA
has not in a long time) it could be a playoff team. New coach Walt Hazzard,
like all new UCLA coaches, is talking about a return to Wooden style teams
with full court pressing defences and superb conditioning (a must since there
is no depth). Gary Maloncon will have to carry the bulk of the scoring load.
Reggie Miller has a great jump shot from the wing so long as he is wide open.

Expectations from the fans are not so high so whatever success they have
will be appreciated. This team has to play De Paul, Memphis State,
Brigham Young and St. John's all on the road, and all in December. By the
end of the December we will know exactly how good or bad UCLA is this year.
