[net.sport.hoops] College conference performance

jlh@hou2e.UUCP (J.HEATWOLE) (02/13/85)

Here is a list of each college basketball conference's record against
outside competition. Compiled from Monday's (2/11) USA Today.

Note 1: Two independents playing each other is not counted as an intra-
conference game. The game is counted twice ( 1-1 for the Inds.)

Note 2: The bottom line is significantly greater than .500 because of the
scheduling practices of all these teams. Early in the season,
everyone likes to start of on the right foot, so they schedule lots
of games with Division 2, Division 3, or NAIA teams.

Note 3: This is just the facts, ma'am. I'm not claiming that this proves
anything (except that overall the ACC is the best conference).
I'd put a smiley face here, but that's just not my style.
