Well folks, 12-18 Lehigh have received a bid to play in the 64 team NCAA's on the strength of their winning the conference. Their coach was talking about it as just a step towards being national champions (well, it is, but seriously?) Anybody know what the odds on their winning the championship are? They are not the worst team ever. In 1960-1961, a team was 9-18, but won their conference tournament, so received a bid. -- James C Armstrong, Jnr. { ihnp4 || allegra || mcnc || cbosgb } !abnji!jca "Emotion is a weakness!" Regarding Lehigh and the ECC: This is the second year in a row that Bucknell lost the ECC tourney final by 2 points in OT. Last year Rider upset Bucknell to make the tournament. Last year's Bucknell squad was something like 22-5 (including a win at Princeton) and they were one of the leaders in team defense nationally. The NIT tournament snubbed them last year (in favor of some 17-15 "name schools"). This year Bucknell was about 16-9 and they won the regular season conference title again. Lehigh finished around 5th or 6th in the conference. In USA Today's computer ranking of the ~250 division I schools, Lehigh was around 230th. (I hope they play Georgetown in the first round.)
