After Kevin McHale broke Larry Bird's Celtic single-game scoring record, someone predicted that Bird would promptly break it right back. Well, obviously that person knows nothing at all about basketball, because Bird is a team player who cares more about rebounding and assists, than how many points he can score. Besides, he now has the infamous Time magazine cover jinx to contend with -- no way he'll be breaking any scoring records this season... wait ... someone just tossed a newspaper on my desk... <esc> <cntrl-d> <break>

From: barton (Gary Barton) To whoever posted the other day about Larry Bird: Your comments are well taken and for the most part accurate. I think is still important to remember that Larry Bird is the star !!! He is still likely to have an ego. I also think that you have spoken too soon. If you have read the sports page recently, you know that Larry scored 60 points in a game earlier this week (mon or tues ?) to reclaim the Celtic record for most points in a single game. He also narrowly missed beating McHale's new record for most points in two consectutive games. - Gary Barton - barton@osu-eddie
