*** CHEW ON THIS A LITTLE, BOSTON *** Look out NBA! Philly is on a roll. I'm afraid I don't have an explanation for it though. I predicted an NBA title for the Sixers every year since the arrival of Dr. J., but this year I lost faith. Forgive me, Billy C., for I have sinned. All year long, particularly the last third of the season, the Sixers just seemed to be going through the motions. No motivation, no victories. Suddenly, all that has changed. They're playing with an intensity that they haven't had since they swept the Lakers two years ago. Moses is back to his blue collar ways. Julius, while not vintage, is still coming through in the clutch (just ask the Bullets and the Bucks). Round Mound has been a terror, both on the boards and offensively. Cheeks led NBA guards in field goal percentage, and has the Philly offense running smoothly. Toney is a more complete player than ever. Bobby Jones, Clint Richardson, and Clemon Johnson are all making their minutes count. This team is in prime form, and with at least a week's rest, they will be ready for Boston (or maybe even Detroit). Granted, my views may be a little one-sided, but I'm sick of everyone on the net talking about the Celtics and the Lakers. If anyone wants to argue about it, send me mail. I never get any.
