There was a disturbing sports news item on one of the local TV news show (Boston Ch 56 News at 10), claiming that some doctor somewhere who has examined Larry Bird, has diagnosed the condition as "acute arthritis", not bone chips. This wasn't from the team doctor, so it's not an official diagnosis. Maybe Bird should be sent to Indiana as compensation for the signing of Jerry Sichting :-)!!!! Ironic? My 1985 Celtic calendar has CEDRIC MAXWELL as the September color picture. What is even more obtuse is the November Celtic - Gerald Henderson! Does anyone have a Sichting picture for sale???? Or even a David Thirdkill, the newly signed Celts savior for 1986-87?? Max deserves to have his number 31 retired at the Garden, not so much because of the two championships he contributed to, but because his achievements are at least equal to that of JoJo White, whose number is retired. Max was the perfect example of the Celtic tradition - a player who would and could do whatever was needed to win. Max could score, rebound, pass, and play tough 'D'. It is unfortunate that the bad memories of the recent past will prevent Max his due honor. No insult intended to JoJo, but I feel that Max has helped to continue the Celtic Mystique, at least to the same degree as JoJo did.
