Well, the first full week of hoop action is over. The pre-season NIT seems to have been a success. Chaminade didn't knock off a Division-I power this year. Alaska hosted another good tournament. And the best match-up conceivable this early in the season was a travesty. Yep. College basketball is a wonderful game. George started off the year with a bang. For the first 62 games, he picked 39 winners, 11 losers, and lost 12 to his spread. As for George's power record, things seem to be similar to last year (which we didn't post). Here is George's spread record: Dates 0-4 5-9 10-14 15-19 20-24 25-up Total 11/22-12/01 16 21 15 3 5 2 62 Season 16 21 15 3 5 2 62 George's top twenty or so has undergone some changes. Our new number one dominated the 8th Great Alaskan Shootout. Our old number one dropped to number 7. TCU vaulted from 55th to 22nd. George's top twenty or so will probably undergo many changes during the first month of hoop action. After the teams start conference play in January will we see the list stabalize. So, without further ado, here it is: George's top twenty (or so) - Week two 1. North Carolina Tar Heels 13. Georgetown Hoyas 2. Michigan Wolverines 14. Memphis State Tigers 3. Syracuse Orangemen 15. Notre Dame Fighting Irish 4. Kentucky Wildcats 16. Nevada-Las Vegas Runnin' Rebels 5. North Carolina State Wolfpack 17. St. John's Redmen 6. Duke Blue Devils 18. Louisville Cardinals 7.
