Well, the second full week of college hoops has come and gone. George had a fantastice week. Out of 54 games he predicted, he picked 35 right, 8 wrong, and lost 11 to his point spread. For the very young season so far he is running at 74-19-23==116. That is just under a 64% rating. Not bad for a bunch of bits. His spread record last week was balanced. We are starting to see the same pattern we did last year. George is pretty good at coming close to the actual point spread. Here's his record: Dates 0-4 5-9 10-14 15-19 20-24 25-up Total 12/02-12/08 16 11 10 8 7 2 54 Season 32 32 25 11 12 4 116 One surprise in this week's top twenty or so has the Anteaters of California at Irvine cracking the list. The other teams are jockeying for position but it looks like the Tar Heels are trying to run away with it early. UNC has a 2 point power rating lead over Michigan which has 2 points on Georgia Tech. By the time conference play starts, they might come down some. Here's the full list: George's top twenty (or so) - Week three 1. North Carolina Tar Heels 13. Louisiana State Tigers 2. Michigan Wolverines 14. Georgetown Hoyas 3. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 15. Louisville Cardinals 4. Illinois Fighting Illini 16. Indiana Hoosiers 5. Syracuse Orangemen 17. Alabama Crimson Tide 6. Kentucky Wildcats 18. Nevada-Las Vegas Runnin' Rebels 7. Kansas Jayhawks 19. St. John's Redmen 8. Virginia Tech Gobblers 20. Texas Christian Horned Frogs 9. Duke Blue Devils 21. California-Irvine Anteaters 10. Virginia Cavaliers 22. Clemson Tigers 11. Memphis State Tigers 23. Alabama-Birmingham Blazers 12. Oklahoma Sooners 24. Auburn Tigers Not many super big games to highlight here this week. Some people might find interesting these games. #24 Auburn at #23 U.A.B (UAB by 5) - this one is a battle for the twentys. #10 Virginia at #8 Virginia Tech (Tech by 6) - might be that close, might not. Maryand at West Virginia (W.V by 2) - which Maryland will show up? the one coached by Charles or the one coached by Lefty. #6 Kentucky at #7 Kansas (Kansas by 5) - they have the same power rating, pick is made by pure home court advantage. It should be a good game to watch on Saturday. #19 St. John's at UCLA (UCLA by 1) - just thought I'd put that one in here for my west coast fans. That's all for this week. I got a couple of more requests for George's picks by mail. The list is still open to anyone who wants it. Just drop me a line. Have a good week ! George P.
