It was developed in the USA and uses a powerful laser to create a "paper-plate" apropraite for short run printing. The interfaces are best to the electronic composition systems sold by Merganthaler (part of Allied Corp). This product has been only moderately successful of addressing the short run typesetting business opened up by low cost electronic composers. As you can see, it is really not a substitute for a quality laser printer for most jobs. Pete Crean
