From Furuta@WASHINGTON.ARPA Wed Dec 14 03:31:45 1983 I thought that this information might be of interest to the Laser-Lovers list. --Rick --------------- Return-Path: <LES@SU-AI> Received: from SU-AI.ARPA by WASHINGTON.ARPA with TCP; Tue 13 Dec 83 15:00:12-PST Date: 13 Dec 83 1500 PST From: Les Earnest <LES@SU-AI> Subject: Comdex demos To: furuta@WASHINGTON Rick, Yes, we showed prototypes of three new printing systems at Comdex, but they are not announced products yet. Imagen 5*480 will be a high-resolution printer using the Canon 5/480 laser printer (nominally 5 pages/minute, 480 dot/inch resolution in both dimensions). Imagen 60*240 will be a high-speed printer using the Delphax ion deposition engine (60 pages/minute, 240 dots/inch). Imagen 8*300 will use an 8 pages/minute, 300 dot/inch Canon laser engine that is based on the same technology as Canon's "personal copiers" -- it uses a removable drum/toner cassette for easy serviceability. All these devices are expected to talk our standard graphical languages (Impress, line printer, daisy printer, Tektronix 4014) and so can be run with TROFF, DI-TROFF, TeX, Scribe, ISSCO DISPLA, etc. Pricing information will likely be available in the first quarter of '84, with initial deliveries some time in the second quarter.
