From tekred!billr Mon Feb 13 00:57:46 1984 Well, we gave it our best shot but to no avail. We have a PDP-11 to which we wanted to connect up a laser printer. At the time Symbolics seemed like the best choice so we took a shot at converting their software to run on an '11. (They said it was written for a vax, but couldn't say whether it would work on an '11.) Unfortunately, the code is full of assumptions that ints are 32-bits. Being uneconomical to convert, we are now going to look at the QMS which apparently is already running on pdps.

From tekred!billr.tektronix@Rand-Relay Thu Feb 16 00:21:01 1984 Perhaps it wasn't clear - it's not the interface driver that was the problem (we modified an existing DR-11 driver) - the problem was the troff support software that converted troff output to the stuff the printer wanted to see. -Bill Randle Tektronix, Inc. tektronix!tekred!billr (uucp) tekred!billr@tektronix (CSnet) tekred!billr.tektronix@rand-relay (ARPA)
