From: Dan Mills <DBM@SU-AI.ARPA> Congratulations are due to Carol Twombly for winning first prize in the "Latin" category of the Morisawa Company's typeface design competition. Carol drew her original text typeface called "Mirarae" as a final project for her master's degree in Digital Typography which she will receive from Stanford in June. Morisawa is a Japanese phototypesetting machine manufacturer and an affiliate of the Mergenthaler Linotype Company. This was an international competition with three categories: Kanji display, Kanji text, and Latin. The complete results will be published soon in Graphis magazine. Ironically, Carol's design was created entirely WITHOUT any computer assistance. Sometimes the old way is the best way!!
