From: David Fuchs <DRF@SU-SCORE.ARPA> From Wednesday's San Francisco Examiner: ``[Canon's] LBP-CX is a compact, lightweight, cartridge-type laser beam printer that looks much like Canon's personal copier. And priced close to $1,000 for companies that resell it under their own labels, there's nothing else quite like it on the market. ``We expect it to be one-of-a-kind for at least 18 months,'' said Jack Strange, Western regional manager. ``Companies remarketing the CX with varying degrees of text and graphics sophistication are Hewlett-Packard Co., Imagen Corp., and Quality Micro Systems Inc., among others, and Canon said perhpas as many as 15 more would be announced as resellers by year end. Apple Computer Inc. is widely rumored to be among them, with two CX-based offerings said to be priced at $5,000 and $7,500. Canon declined to comment on any prospective resellers.'' This appeared at the end of an article in the business section that reported that Canon had announced (yet another) PC-clone with which they are expected to bundle a version of the CX. -------
