From: Michael_D'Alessandro%Wayne-MTS%UMich-MTS.Mailnet@MIT-MULTICS.ARPA (Disclaimer: I am currently a Unix novice, so please excuse any mistakes in the following) We will soon be acquiring Eunice for our 11/780 which is running VMS 3.4. Eunice is a BSD 4.1 Unix overlay that sits on top of VMS. We are going to use nroff and troff on Eunice for document preparation, and we are looking for a suitable output device for troff output. Currently, we have a DEC LN01 laser printer (which is really a Xerox 2700). My questions are: 1) Can we obtain additional fonts for the LN01 so that it is a decent troff output device and it can do Greek and mathematical symbols, etc.? How much would such fonts cost? Who could we buy them from? DEC? Xerox? 2) Can we upgrade our LN01 to an LN01S (which is really a QMS Lasergrafix), and is the LN01S a suitable troff output device? 3) Would it perhaps be better to forget about upgrading the LN01 and instead get another laser printer to use as a dedicated troff output device, such as a HP Laserjet or an Imagen? Is an Imagen a good troff output device? I'm open to all suggestions, as we are fairly free to choose which way we want to go with this.
