From: Richard Furuta <Furuta@WASHINGTON.ARPA> I have reread my notes on my conversation with Joe Mann of QMS (which I reported on a few days back) and have found only a few things I forgot to say in the earlier message. One is that the QMS 1200A interface is RS232 but can be driven to 19.2 KBaud (contrast to the Apple LaserWriter which can be driven via RS-232 only at 1200 Baud and 9600 Baud although the AppleTalk interface is certainly faster than the 19.2 KBaud). The other point is that QMS indicates that at the present with their prototypes, they can drive the printer full speed with plain text for pages of 5000 characters or less. The 2400A is driven at full speed with pages of 2500 characters or less. --Rick -------
