From: utzoo!henry@uw-beaver.arpa Some while ago, I posted info on the new font cartridges from HP. Among other things, I listed the F cartridge as 8-14 point proportional. We just got our F cartridge today, and, uh, we're disappointed. The contents of the F cartridge are virtually identical to the old B cartridge. 10-point roman, bold, and italic, 8-point roman, 14-point helv bold, and a small line-printer font. There are some differences, but minor ones: the line-printer font is now in portrait orientation, the 8-point roman is now listed as regular weight rather than light (although we can't see any difference at first glance), and all the fonts now have HP's full "Roman-8" character set instead of just ASCII. I'm also told that HP has cleaned up the widths on the fonts so that the default spacing is no longer so ridiculously loose, although they haven't done a completely satisfactory job; I have not confirmed this. For this we spent C$500? Beware. Henry Spencer @ U of Toronto Zoology {allegra,ihnp4,linus,decvax}!utzoo!henry
