From: udenva!hao!robert@lbl-csam.arpa (Robert Chatfield) ***** Has anyone gotten TEX going on the HP Laserjet yet? I would guess that this involves translation rather like that to daisy-wheel printers, since one would mostly have to use the cartridge fonts. We are interested in using these machines as peripheral printers, with the more complex scientific material going to more expensive laser printers. Perhaps they could do more: We've seen what the TPlus software can do with regular troff on the Laserjet. With the F Times Roman cartridge from HP, the printed page is very impressive indeed -- the only limitation is in the variety of font sizes available. This software does use the graphics memory of the HP and we were afraid we'ld run out. We ran out a nice treatise on partial differential equations and operators, and had no trouble with memory at all. We're leaning towards TEX though, and would like to know it could do as good a job. Will this have to await HP's promised Scientific font, or has anyone developed for the current fonts?
