From: ihnp4!ukma!david@uw-beaver.arpa (David Herron, NPR Lover) [If this is an Often Asked Question, bear with me for I am but an egg] 1) Are the font descriptions available all device independant? 2) I know of the Hershey Fonts, and will make sure we don't have a copy already. 3) What places sell/rent fonts? BTW ... We have an Imagen 8/300. David Herron cbosgd!ukma!david [[Editor's note: We have discussed the availability of the Hershey fonts and Stanford's Metafont-produced fonts in sufficient detail already, I believe. It's also clear that all font descriptions aren't device independent and that the concept of what device independent means varies from one format to another. However, personally, I'd be interested in hearing about other sources of fonts, and about the quality of these fonts, as raised by point (3). --Rick ]]

From: birving.es@xerox.arpa The Xerox Corporate Font Ceneter offers a huge variety of Fonts as standard "Off the Shelf" items. These include publishing quality fonts, (Mergenthallers) and variable data fonts in many different columnations and lines per inch. They also offer a variety of other services such as scanning logos, signatures or building type faces that will enable some very unusual applications. The only catch is......they support only Xerox laser printers. Blake
