Edelman <HEDELMAN@JPL-VLSI.ARPA> Les Earnest's observation of the differences in two samples of Times Roman has triggered me to remember that some years ago (twenty or so), The Times (London) did indeed change their type in such a way that the "closed" characters (e.g., "e", "g", etc.) were made more "open". From time to time, one sees references to New Times Roman as distinct from Times Roman. It would appear that those responsible for naming (or perhaps even building!) the so-called Times Roman fonts skipped a level of research here. ------
