From: Les Earnest <LES@SU-AI.ARPA> [Open message to Apple Computers] Dear Ms. Computers: May I call you Apple? It was with a twinge of guilt that I read the headlines in the business section of this morning's San Jose Mercury News, saying "Apple says its profits and sales will drop -- Firm hints at layoffs; stock plunges to a 52-week low." The thought occurred to me that this might have been caused in part by my recent participation in a discussion in which the intercharacter spacing of the Apple Laserwriter was criticized. Really, Apple, I didn't mean to say that there was anything terribly wrong with the Laserwriter. I rather like most of your stuff. I wish your company the best of luck in going after the Glum Grey Giant and hope that you meet with greater success in the future. Best Regards, Les Earnest Imagen shareholder and Apple polisher Postscript: Don't worry about stepping on little Imagen Corporation. They have already survived a four-year-old death sentence from the venture capital community. If you can beat *those* dudes, you can beat anyone.
