From: Les Earnest <LES@SU-AI.ARPA> [In response to your message of 25 May 1985 11:02:04 PDT] Cal Jackson: I would like to announce that Postscript will be available shortly on the Imagen family of Printers, but I won't for two reasons: (1) Postscript has a long way to go in gaining industrial acceptance and having software interfaces developed to the point where implementing it as an alternative language becomes interesting; (2) decisions about which languages will be implemented on Imagen printers and when are made by the Imagen management, so it is none of my business. As near as I can tell, the current Imagen management has no ingrained ideologies about which languages they will support, unlike certain other companies. For example, they recently announced their intention to support Interpress. With respect to your remark that "there are probably at least three people on the Board of Directors," I can confirm that there are currently six. Lest you worry about the possibility of deadlock in an even-numbered Board, let me assure you that in practice all decisions are decided by votes of either 6-0 or 5-1, with me being the "1" just to preserve my reputation as an independent SoB. Let me also say that at meetings of the Board, the other directors are becoming increasingly generous in making room for me at the table. I have noticed the curious fact that their generousity is proportional to the outside air temperature. I am beginning to suspect that this has something to do with the fact that I travel by bicycle. Cheers, Les Earnest
