From: ihnp4!shell!buck@uw-beaver.arpa (Lester Buck) Does anyone know of a model of laser printer that accepts continuous (roll) paper? Our applications plot a lot of information versus depth and we use various models of Versatec electrostatic printers. Is there anything comparable with a laser engine? I have seen the IBM 3800 using continuous fan fold paper, but it is still page oriented, without graphics. Current laser printers must print the page in one go and require something like 1 Mbit/sec transfer onto the page at 300 dots/inch, so this is probably out for yards of output, but maybe a slower laser engine or a lower resolution in continuous mode would work. If laser engines could do continuous output, would there be any reason (other than color) to stay with Versatec printers? A. Lester Buck @ Shell Development Co. {ihnp4, pur-ee, ut-sally}!shell!buck
