laser-lovers@uw-beaver (06/22/85)
From: Dan Berry <dberry@UCLA-LOCUS.arpa> A friend at the Hebrew University is considering getting a laser printer for their department... He writes ... --------------- " - we have been doing some research here, but the salesmen don't know much, which is an understatement. we have the following options: cannon (2.5k$) but has only 64Kram. cannon + kidron (local box, does not talk troff/ditroff) 6.5k$ " + QMS > 7$k " + Imagen. > 10$k Sun, ?? Apple ?? " --------------- The reasons the prices seem so strange is that they have to pay taxes through the nose. Could someone send to him the prices paid for these devices here in the US on the open market.. Then he can use the formulae to calculate what they would have to pay Also they have a strange situation that there is a canon rep but no imagen rep. Thus they can get support for canon and not imagen. They wonder if it is possible to get an imagen engine separate from the canon and hook it up to a fully supported canon. This way only part of it would be unsupported. Is such a purchase possible? Is such a connection possible without too much hassle? Please reply directly to him. He is not getting laser-lovers because the line over to Israel is costly.. His address is "danny.hugo.israel@csnet-relay" or mcvax!humus!hugo!danny Thanks Dan Berry
