This should help substantially, but I haven't explored the limits. It also seems to be necessary to change the page-offsets. Easy way to do this: 1. add line containing 'note' near start of file "tex.ps" (say, as line 6). 2. decrease Page-X-Offset by 40 and Page-Y-Offset by 110 in "tex.ps" (no, I don't know why).
