[fa.laser-lovers] Outline fonts in InterPress

I was kinda struck by the mention in the Interpress announcement of
outline fonts - from previous acquaintance with Xerox I ahd assumed they
were wedded to bitmap (I guess it's all in the Intrepress manuals, but the
copies I ordered last |February haven't been seen in Australia yet).
I was even more struck by the lack of reaction in this list, especially
given the outpourings when the laserwriter fonts were first seen. SOOO:
has anyone seen these putative outline fonts, or was it just the capability
that was announced? If so , how do they look? Knowledgeable or ignorant
comments are welcome, so long as they're controversial!
Secondly, is the outline format private wi - sorry - as with PostScript,
or will we be able to generate our own outline fonts (or more importantly,
but - sorry - buy them from independent vendors
