The July 1985 Byte has a "What's New" description of the Xerox
6085 minicomputer and the Xerox 4045 Laser Copier/Printer. It's on
page 39. Starting price for both is $4995. The 4045 is rated at
10 pages/minute, 5000 pages/month. It's resolution is 300 dots per inch.
If I recall properly, the functionality is supposed to be similar to the
2700.

The surprising thing about this, to me, is that you cannot expand the
configuration to the point that you can get a full page bitmap. The
initial configuration is 128K bytes of memory. This can be
expanded to 512K bytes, at which point you can only reproduce a 5 by
7 inch image at full resolution (you can do the full page at 150 dpi).

Anyone have more comments on these products? We've had some requests
for information on them before but I don't recall any definitive
statements in reply.
